'tis the season to get robbed-on

there is nothing i enjoy more than saying "robbed-on." i never even knew the term existed before living in the islands. the VI police have offered some excellent tips for the holiday season on how not to attract robbers and how to avoid getting robbed-on.

one of my favorite crime stories of the year was of robbers stealing a motorbike from inside the roadtown tortola police station. unfortunately they never found the robbers, which may (imo) go down as one of the easiest yet most embarrassing case ever to not be closed. well, in related news it looks like the motorbike robbers are back at it again! this week they robbed-on the roadtown police station, again! another motorbike in fact! unfortunately the story was posted online and immediately taken down, most likely due to all the embarrassment by the BVI police. that, and the BVI is much better at covering-up bad publicity than the USVI (see story below!)

apparently tourists have come to realize that if you're going to murder someone it might as well be on a romantic and beautiful island where you're least likely to actually get caught:
